Supporting the financial wellbeing of NHS staff

Thanks to our generous supporters, Guy’s and St Thomas’ has launched a vital new financial advice service for its staff, the first of its kind in the NHS.

The rising costs of living have led to many people worrying about their finances. The new Money Coaching service helps to reduce these worries by providing free, confidential, and expert financial advice that staff can use to manage and overcome money-related challenges.

They can use the service to help with budgeting and accessing grants or benefits, for debt advice, and to help keep their finances on track.

Money Coaching has been made as accessible as possible, to make sure no one is excluded from getting the support they need. Staff can speak to an advisor face to face, either in person or in one of the service’s video advice kiosks. They can also get support over the phone and WhatsApp, or attend one of the monthly financial education workshops.

“As the cost of living has increased in recent years, it has become more common that people are worrying about how to make ends meet. Working in the NHS should always be a source of pride, and we want our brilliant and dedicated people to feel able to concentrate on providing great patient care, without having to worry about their personal finances. It can sometimes help to have dedicated advice, and we would not be able to deliver this service without the generous support of Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity.”

Lawrence Tallon, Guy’s and St Thomas’ deputy chief executive

The service is delivered by Toynbee Hall, a specialist financial advice agency. Their director of advice services, Matt Dronfield, said:

“We know that financial challenges can take a huge toll on wellbeing, and by providing easy access to debt advice and financial education, we’re helping staff to reduce financial stress.”

Together, we’re staying one step ahead for the incredible staff at Guy’s and St Thomas’. With your support, we can help to look after all aspects of their wellbeing.
