Hosting a collection for Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity

Thank you for giving a Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity collection tin a home. Whether it’s placed in a shop, café, workplace or at an event, every penny adds up to help support the remarkable staff and exceptional care at Guy’s and St Thomas’.

Please keep the following in mind when organising your collection:

    1. Get permission
      – Make sure you have permission from the property owner or manager before displaying your tin.
    2. Keep your tin secure
      – Your tin should be kept secure while on display, with any opportunities for tampering minimised.
      – Check the security seal regularly to ensure it remains intact, and use a chain or other suitable method to help keep it in place.
      – Take a picture of your tin upon set up so that any tampering can be easily identified.
      – Only open the tin when you’re ready to count and pay in the funds.
    3. Stay safe
      – When transporting funds, keep tins or cash out of sight and avoid carrying money on your own.
    4. Report any problems quickly
      – If your tin or funds go missing, please let us know as soon as possible. If you think they may have been stolen, report it to your local police straight away.
    5. Look after the funds
      – Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity staff aren’t able to collect tins or money raised, so you’re responsible for keeping the funds safe and ensuring that 100% of the money reaches Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity.
      – We recommend banking funds regularly (at least every three months) to keep this manageable.
    6. Paying in your fundraising
      – When you’re ready to pay in your fundraising, ask a friend or colleague to witness as you remove the security seal. Both of you should count the cash and make sure your totals match. Pay this directly into your bank account, and send the funds raised in full to Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity.
      – If you’d prefer to pay by bank transfer, cheque, or over the phone, you can get in touch with our Supporter Care team at hello@gsttcharity.org.uk. or 020 8106 5433.
    7. Returning your tin
      – We kindly ask that you return your empty tin to us once your collection has finished so we can re-use it.
    8. Get in touch with us
      – We hope you enjoy hosting your collection tin, thank you again for your support.
-If you no longer need your tin, have run out of seals, or have any questions about your collection, please get in touch.
