200 patients received faster care

We funded a project that has delivered dental care 12 times faster – so far over 200 patients have already benefited from this project.

MediCinema offers a break from the wards

For patients in hospital, the MediCinema offers a much-needed break from the ward, helping to improve wellbeing during what can be a difficult time. Of those surveyed, 96% reported an improvement in their wellbeing.

We helped fund the Centre of Translational Medicine, transforming the future of medical research and supporting more than 100 researchers and projects.

MediCinema at Guy's hospital

MediCinema

A visit to the cinema can be a lifeline for patients, which is why we’re funding the remarkable MediCinema at Guy’s Hospital. It offers a welcome escape from the ward, giving them something to look forward to and creating special moments with family and friends. Thanks to a recent refurbishment, even patients who cannot leave their beds can now be wheeled straight to the front of the cinema to enjoy the film.

Of those surveyed, 96% report an improvement in wellbeing; 93% say it reduces their stress and anxiety and 97% say it gives them something to look forward to, with benefits lasting beyond the screening.

ICU Survivorship Programme

Recovery doesn’t end when a patient leaves the intensive care unit (ICU). After an extended stay, they can experience anxiety, confusion and fear about the future. We’re proud to support the Guy’s and St Thomas’ ICU Survivorship Programme. This innovative project combines specialist technology with the expertise of a dedicated occupational therapist to help patients overcome the physical, emotional and psychological challenges of recovering from critical illness.

Early pregnancy bereavement suites

Those experiencing baby loss before 18 weeks of pregnancy need the same level of care as those experiencing loss in later pregnancy. Thanks to charity funding, two dedicated bereavement suites are now available at St Thomas’ Hospital. These calm, comforting spaces allow the team at Guy’s and St Thomas’ to provide emotional and practical support, helping families navigate their loss with dignity, compassion and privacy.

Centre for Translational Medicine

We’ve invested £8.2 million in the Centre for Translational Medicine (CTM), where pioneering research is accelerating scientific breakthroughs to develop life-changing treatments. Since we started supporting the CTM, we’ve funded more than 100 researchers and projects, helping transform the future of medical research.

Virtual dental clinics

Over at Guy’s Dental Hospital, we’re supporting a pilot project that’s helping patients receive dental care up to 12 times faster. Virtual clinics allow local dentists to access advice directly from a hospital consultant. This reduces waiting times, cuts unnecessary journeys to hospital and helps more people receive care closer to home.

Launch of the Money Coaching services

Money Coaching service

We’ve helped Guy’s and St Thomas’ launch a pioneering financial advice service for NHS staff. The Money Coaching service provides free, confidential support, from budgeting and debt advice to accessing grants or benefits. This means the dedicated staff at Guy’s and St Thomas’ can focus on delivering exceptional care without worrying about their personal finances.
